Nice photo.Funny you should mention skipping rhymes.My daughter was singing them to me the other day and although I recognised some of them from my own childhood many moons ago, some of the words had changed. I’ll ask her for them again.

Well done, Nik – what a lot of hard (but excellent) work! Very annoying that the paper got your name wrong, but at least they covered the event – more publicity for writers and writing can’t be a bad thing! On the skipping rhyme front, there’s a really simple one to be used when two or more people skip together:The first person skipping alone – either turning the rope themselves or having it turned for them by two others – says: I like coffee, I like tea, I like (name) in with me!Second skipper has to nip in and start jumping in time with first, while then saying: I hate coffee, I hate tea, I don’t want (name of 1st person) in with me! First person nips out and second begins the rhyme again (I like coffee etc), so that the next person can join. And so on… Emma x

I just remembered a book I’ve got about various old games for kids etc. I’ve taken a peek and found the following:(In both, two people turn the rope for a third – or more – to skip.)”Mother’s in the kitchen,Doing all the stitching,In comes the pussycat (Skipping child points to the one who will replace them)And shoos her OUT!” (the children quickly swap places)Also:(Skipper does double bounces to start)”Cinderella dressed in yella,Went to town to meet a fella.On the way her girdle busted – How many people were disgusted?(skipper switches to harder single bounces for the count)1,2,3,4,5 etc”Either of those any use?Emma x
