Best first:
HUGE congratulations to Teresan Stenson, who’s been keeping some pretty special news to herself for a little while. The Bridport’s a pretty big deal; pop across, say well done.
Brilliant. I am very happy for her. We’re in the same issue of Tomlit Quarterly – her story in that’s ace.
And now the worst.
It’s reading things like this
and this
that make me really, really cross. It’s just not on.
Ah, thanks so much for that, Nik. And for linking to those other posts, too.
No problem at all – Huge Congrats again!N
All too depressing an end to your post! Scary. So much to think about whilst trying to get "savvy" with the publishing industry. Seems one can only fall flat on one's face and still be unpublished.
There seems to be a lot of this going around. Malaise, or worse, I suppose. But I think your conclusion is right. All we can do, if we choose not to linger in depression,is get out into the world, meet people, have conversations, live.
Hi Nik, did I lose a post of yours somewhere along the line? It popped up on my blog dashboard but now it's gone. Anyway, congrats on the recent hits and I hope it continues to go well for you.
Sarah, I deleted cos it didn't actually say much other than I'd been looking through old posts (from this time last year) and getting a bit sad. All a bit self serving and dull really!Rachel, it is depressing. Though it's pleasing that it doesn't happen very often. It's just crap that when it does happen it happens to Good People. Thanks Sue – definitely!Nik
