Two, in fact, to make up for my grumpy post.
Charles Lambert’s The Scent of Cinnammon and Elizabeth Baines’ Balancing on The Edge of the World arrived a little while ago, and I am enjoying them both a huge amount.
I’ve been spending more time with Elizabeth’s book (it was slimmer and easier to slip into my coat pocket the other day) and, I’ll be honest, I really don’t want it to end. Sometimes books are just right, they feel right, and when you read them it’s almost as though they’re singing to you. And Balancing on the Edge of the World is just one of those. I’m only half way through but I’ve already found two (maybe three) stories that’ll go on my favourites of all time list.
So there. Two definite reasons to be cheerful.
Yes, I agree about Elizabeth’s book. The other is on my very much almost the next book I will read pile… and I am keen to read it soon.
I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.Nik π
Both books are utterly utterly fabulous and you’re in for a real treat.Axxx
I do get that feeling, Ms Brooke. Which is rather bloody splendid. π
Oh yes, both are totally stunning and very different. I haven’t finished Charles’ yet for that very reason… can’t bear to let it go! I had to finish Elizabeth’s because I am interviewing her on my blog… but she has a new book coming out later in the year, so that’s ok π Glad you are feeling a bit less grumpy.
The future’s bright by the sounds of it! Defo looking forward to reading what you and her have to say…Nik
Hey Nik, good luck in the 6S comp! You have my vote – yours was absolutely my favourite – matched the tone of the original five sentences perfectly. Fingers crossed!
Thanks Valerie – that’s ace to hear. And thank you muchly for your vote. Nik
Nik, I don't know how, but I missed this post at the time – I think I was just so busy with my book tour to be reading much on the web, but I didn't even get an Google alert either – until today! I'm so very very glad you liked the book. Had wondered what you thought… And thank you for writing that you did.
You're most welcome, Elizabeth – I thoroughly enjoyed it. And how strange re the Google alert; not very efficient!
