Now I’ve Woken Up

Hello! Hello, lovely readers. Hello 2014! I hope you all had a grand old time over the holidays/got through them. I did. Just about. This was the first time since 2005 (when I was doing first book stuff) that I actually took a significant amount of time off. I had a week. And it was brilliant and involved not a great deal else other than dozing and reading (including, most appropriately, Steve Stack’s brilliant Christmas Dodos).

It was great to catch up with family and friends – some who live just up the road, others who’d travelled. There was some nice family news and I managed a few Skype chats with my nephew and brand new niece.

But now, despite feeling considerably refreshed, it feels like it was all a very long time ago (no bad thing). I’ve been very busy editing and teaching, and I’ve even managed to get some of my own writing done (more on that later) so, all in all, after a welcome break it’s good to be back.

I’ve not made any resolutions (never do – still smoking etc etc) but I do plan to blog a little more regularly than I have been doing over the past few months. Hopefully I’ll have things and stuff to talk about.

But, for now: happy new year, one and all.

  1. Happy New Year to you, too. I’m hoping for a bit of balance this year, although I don’t see that happening for 6 months or so. But I wish you lots of time to do your own writing this year, and whatever else you long to do.

    1. Same to you, Sue. If there’s one thing I’ve learned with this writing lark (and let’s face it, it’s probably the ONLY thing I’ve learned!) it’s that it’s all about balance. And as long as things ARE balanced then that’s cool. My problem is I’m not very good at saying no!
