In Memory

It was my Nan’s funeral yesterday. I wrote this for the occasion and read it.

‘Gone is not lost.
Everyone can last forever,
can live forever,
in a memory.

It is the memory
that keeps us alive.
That sustains.
That laughs and hugs and smiles and cries.
Or shakes a head
or rolls our eyes.

The memory; of a Christmas past
or conversation;
or a childhood
long gone.
Or of a lazy Sunday, spent
not doing much
is as whole and as new as the moment it was born.

So laugh or cry or both.
Or love and hug and smile.

And remember.

Just remember.’

The exciting things I need to mention can wait until tomorrow at least.

That is all.
